Apollo 8 Flown Small National Geographic Society Flag on Large Crew-Signed "Earthrise" Color Photo. A 3.25" x 2.125" cloth flag of the society attached to an "Earthrise" photo mounted to a mat, overall 24" x 20". The photo is signed: "Frank Borman", "James Lovell", and "Bill Anders" and, in an unknown hand, inscribed: "To Melvyn M. Payne/ With Best Wishes". Payne was the chairman of the society and served it for more than fifty years. The society's flag was designed in 1903 with the green stripe representing the sea, the brown, land, and the blue, the sky. The astronaut signatures are extremely faded but still visible, some light soiling on the mat, overall good.

NOTE: This was originally obtained from Payne's estate and we feel that the flag was likely flown on the mission, and then presented to him in this manner.
