Apollo 8 "Earthrise II" Large Color Photo Signed by Walt Cunningham and Originally from His Personal Collection. A stunning 19.5" x 15.5" photo on heavy and stiff stock, the second of two incredible photographs of the first "earthrise" seen by human eyes, taken by Bill Anders during lunar orbit on December 24, 1968. It is signed in silver ink just above the lunar surface: "Apollo 8 - 'In the beginning...'/ Walt Cunningham/ Apollo 7". The companion photo is one of the most iconic photos of the twentieth century. Cunningham references the television broadcast that took place that day in which the crew read the first ten verses of Genesis from the Bible. Additional signatures of Frank Borman and James Lovell could likely be added. Full caption on verso. Part of a group of photos presented to Cunningham personally by Victor Hasselblad in 1972 during a special ceremony in Stockholm.
