Apollo 17: Onboard 16mm Color Print Film Magazines AA, CC, DD, EE, GG, HH, and II on One Original NASA Reel. From the archives of NASA Engineer Donald T. Hamilton, here is an amazing find. A very early generation film on a vintage 12.25" reel in its original storage can. The Manned Spacecraft Center period label has the following handwritten notations: "W/O 11349", "16mm", and "Apollo 17 Onboard Mags. EE, GG, DD, CC, AA, HH, II", and "Roll-1". (See lot following for Roll 2.) These were the movies taken by the onboard Maurer 16mm Data Acquisition Camera. Content highlights as follows.

Magazine EE: LM descent to lunar surface: high gate to touchdown, from right (LMP) window.
Magazine GG: Command Module entry into earth's atmosphere- view of forward heat shield (apex cover); drogue parachute deployment; main parachute deployment.
Magazine DD: LM ascent stage jettison; southeastern quarter of moon (south at top); scan northward, Smyth's, Border Seas, Seas of Fertility, Crises; trans-earth coast.
Magazine CC: Undocking, LM viewed from CM; earth crescent, north at top; trans-earth coast; lunar disc (full), north at bottom; earth crescent through sextant; lunar disc through sextant.
Magazine AA: Trans-lunar coast; scan of full earth disc; continuous scan from earth view to LM in S-IVB; Mylar drifting from spacecraft; dock; S-IVB after separation; scan to view across one side of LM; S-IVB and LM quad; trans-lunar coast; earth disc; S-IVB.
Magazine HH: Heat flow experiment in CM during trans-lunar coast- radial and lineal tests; flow pattern, high and low heat test.
Magazine II: CM/LM interior, crew activity; trans-lunar coast.

The complete 16mm footage from Apollo 17 is viewable at the Internet Archive ( Watching it brings back many exciting memories of this final (for now, anyway) manned journey to the moon. Here is your opportunity to own a period print. Copies of the pages from the Apollo 17 Photograph Index pertaining to these magazines are included with the lot. A rare offering. Is this the reel showing the recently discovered "Triangle UFO?" You'll have to buy it to find out! Not tested, appears fine. From the family collection of the late Donald T. Hamilton, a NASA engineer of 40+ years' service.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
