A rarely-seen Apollo PPK, flown to the lunar surface.

Apollo 17 Lunar Module Flown Beta Cloth Transfer Bag Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Gene Cernan, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. This large PPK-type bag was used to transfer items back and forth between the Command Module America and the Lunar Module Challenger. Approximately 8.5" x 10.5" with a 2" gusset and a top flap with snap closure. The NASA part and serial numbers are printed on an identification tag sewn to the front: "SEB 32100025-301/ S/N 1042". "LM" has been written by Cernan and circled on the front designating that it flew on the lunar module. On the flap, he has signed: "Flown to Lunar/ Surface on Apollo XVII/ Lunar Module- 'Challenger'/ Dec. 1972/ Gene Cernan". Very fine condition. From the Steven R. Belasco Collection of Space Memorabilia.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity on Cernan's letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify that the Beta Cloth Transfer Bag, P/N SEB 32100025-301 and S/N 1042 which accompanies this letter was flown on Apollo 17 to the moon in December 1972. This Transfer Bag, manufactured by Dow-Corning, was used to transfer items back and forth from the Command Module 'America' to the Lunar Module 'Challenger.' I have personally written 'LM' on the front of the bag to indicate that it flew with me to the surface of the moon."
