DescriptionApollo 17 Flown Kapton Foil Segments in a Lucite Display Originally from the Collection of Mission Commander Gene Cernan, with COA. A 2.25" diameter x 3" tall truncated cylinder containing two small pieces of Mylar foil. In the base is an Apollo 17 mission insignia with the following information printed on the bottom: "A piece of the outer skin of the Apollo 17 Command Module 'America.' Removed following its historic flight to the moon; December, 1972. The Cernan Corp." Not common. Excellent.
Included with this lot is a Novaspace Certificate of Authenticity from the "Gene Cernan Garage Sale" stating (in part): "This item is from my personal collection of memorabilia from my career as a NASA astronaut..." Note: the signature on the COA is a facsimile.
