Description

Apollo 17 Flown "Arabia (3 of 3)" Map from the CSM Lunar Landmark Maps Book Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Gene Cernan, Signed and Certified, with COA. A three-hole punched 8" x 10.5" lunar map on photographic paper, image size 8" x 8.75"; it bears observation instructions in the wide lower margin and a hand-drawn scale beneath the image. On the verso is attached a 4" x 3.25" certificate signed by Cernan as Apollo 17 Commander. It states (beneath an Apollo 17 mission insignia): "The Eugene A. Cernan Space Collection/ The crew used this flown Apollo 17/ - CSM Lunar Landmark Map - / to study the Moon from lunar orbit/ [signed] Gene Cernan". This page was removed from the complete CSM Lunar Landmark Maps book with a part number of "SKB32100123-322" and serial number "1001". It has been attached, using archival corner mounts (easily removable), to a dramatic color photographic display of 19" x 13" showing Gene Cernan holding the complete flown book against a beautiful background photo of the Apollo 17 CM America orbiting the moon. The caption reads: "Gene Cernan holds the Apollo 17 Command Module 'Lunar Landmark Map Book' from which this flown map plate originated, in front of a photograph of the Command Module 'America' within which this map was actually housed and used in lunar orbit." Included with this lot is an RR Auction Certificate of Authenticity. Excellent condition. From the Steven R. Belasco Collection of Space Memorabilia.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
