Description

Apollo 17 Crew-Signed Large Deep Space EVA Color Photo Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Ron Evans, in Framed Display. A 10.75" x 13.75" photo, NASA image AS17-152-23391, of Ron Evans retrieving film canisters during the return to earth, mounted to a matboard and framed to an overall 19" x 23". It is signed on the mat beneath the photo in black felt tip: "Gene Cernan", "Ron Evans", and "Harrison H. Schmitt". This was given by Ron Evans to his brother. There is a bit of light dampstaining in the lower right part of the photo and on the lower mat area which has affected the "Eva" in Evans and the photo. Overall fine.

This dramatic photo is of Evans during his deep space EVA (man's last to date) on the return trip of Apollo 17 to earth. He spent just over an hour outside the command module America retrieving film cassettes from the Scientific Instrument Module bay. This spacewalk was broadcast back to Earth.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
