Apollo 16 Lunar Module Flown Sunglasses Case Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander John Young, Certified and Signed. This Beta cloth case, 6" x 3" x 0.75" overall, has a snap closure, a hard plastic liner, and a tag sewn to the top of the outside with the following information:
    SEB 12100034-203
    S/N 1051
    MFG. NASA MSC 3-70
To protect their eyes from the extremely bright and unfiltered sunlight that could enter the windows of the Apollo spacecraft, each astronaut was provided with a pair of sunglasses along with a case of this type of case. This case was used aboard the Lunar Module Orion (LM-11) during Young's nearly three full days on the moon's surface. On the back, John Young has written: "Flown on Apollo 16. John Young". Very fine condition with some light soiling and wear.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification from John Young stating: "I hereby certify that the pouch for sunglasses that accompanies this letter, marked as SEB 12100034-203, S/N 1051, MFG. NASA MSC 3-70, was flown with me on Apollo 16 to the moon April 16-27, 1972. It was used in the CM and was also aboard the LM, spending nearly 3 days with me on the lunar surface. It has been part of my personal collection since the mission."

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
