DescriptionApollo 16 Flown Hand Tools (Three) Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander John Young. All three of these items flew on Apollo 16 to the moon and back during its eleven-day mission, April 16-27, 1972. Each of these Japanese-manufactured, plastic-handled tools are approximately 4.25" in length, as follows: (1) Flat screwdriver/ wire stripper with red handle; (2) Awl with yellow/clear handle; and (3) Screw-threader with blue handle. Fine condition with some wear and use evident.
Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification from John Young stating: "I hereby certify that the three small hand tools (flat-head screwdriver with red plastic handle, awl with yellow plastic handle, and screw threader with blue plastic handle) that accompany this letter were flown to the moon aboard Apollo 16 April 16-27, 1972. They have been a part of my personal collection since the mission."
