DescriptionApollo 16 Flown Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander John Young, Certified and Signed. This 4"round patch flew with crewmembers Young, Mattingly, and Duke aboard the Apollo 16 lunar landing mission, April 16-27, 1972. The design for this insignia features an eagle with outstretched wings atop a red, white, and blue shield, all above the lunar surface. The NASA logo element vector symbol is across the shield on which is written "APOLLO 16". The blue border contains sixteen silver stars and the surnames of the crew; it is surrounded by a yellow/gold border. Excellent condition.
On the back, John Young has written: "Flown. John Young".
