Description

"...flown to the surface of the moon..."

Apollo 15 Lunar Module Flown 14K Gold Mission Insignia Medallion Presented by Dave Scott, with Original Certificate of Authenticity. A 25mm gold medal with an attached ring for wear on a bracelet or neck chain; the Apollo 15 mission insignia is in colored enamel on the obverse. On the reverse is engraved "#1/ This Went to the Moon on Apollo 15/ Dave Scott [signature in engraved facsimile] CDR A/15" above the "14K" gold hallmark. Included is an 8.5" x 11" certificate reading: "The Medallion represented above was flown to the surface of the Moon on Apollo 15. July 26, 1971- Liftoff: July 30- Moon Landing: August 7, 1971- Splashdown. Each Medallion was Numbered serially. Number 1 has been presented to Chuck Graham". The three crew signatures below are printed facsimiles. This is an item that Heritage has not offered previously. It is a stunning piece of jewelry in a fine metal and was taken in the Lunar Module Falcon to the lunar surface during mankind's fourth lunar landing where it spent nearly sixty-seven hours. These factors combine to make this a very desirable piece. Excellent.

Charles "Chuck" Graham served as a pilot during WWII and afterwards became a test pilot for North American Aviation, an early member of the "Mach Breakers Club". He would later become the Executive Director of Customer Relations for North American (later Rockwell) and was well-known and respected among the astronauts.
