DescriptionApollo 15 Flown American Flag Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Dave Scott, with Signed LOA. A 5.75" x 4" cloth U.S. Flag that flew to the moon aboard Apollo 15 with crewmembers Scott, Irwin, and Worden. Some vertical folds, otherwise excellent. From the Steven R. Belasco Collection of Space Memorabilia.
Included with this lot are two items regarding its authenticity and provenance. First is a 1972-dated signed Letter of Authenticity on Scott's letterhead to Anne Lurton Scott, stating: "This is to certify that the attached United States flag was purchased by me prior to the flight of Apollo 15 and was carried onboard Apollo 15 in my Personal Preference Kt (PPK). This flag is from my personal collection and is genuine in all respects." Also included is a 2002-dated signed Provenance Certificate from Dave Scott to Lurton Scott reiterating the same information.
