Apollo 15 & 16 Original NASA Astronaut EVA and Geology Training Photos from 1971, Including Twelve with "Red Numbers." A collection of nineteen rarely-seen images of the Apollo 15 and Apollo 16 crews; these were taken mostly in the Taos, New Mexico, area in early 1971. Pat Patnesky, the photographer, went on most of the astronaut training field trips where he captured fabulous images such as these of the astronauts rehearsing for their upcoming mission EVAs on rugged terrain such as they would find on the moon. Several picture the Lunar Roving Vehicle. The following are all "red number" 8" x 10" color glossies, S-71- 23771, S-71- 23773, S-71- 23774, S-71- 23775, S-71- 23776 (x3), S-71- 51613 (x2), S-71- 54636, S-71- 54734, and S-71- 59354. Another has "NASA" in red but the number "71-51611" is handwritten in. There are also six silk-finish 8" x 10" B&Ws in the "S-71-" series with handwritten dates of March 11-12, 1971, written in the margins. Several have printed press captions on the verso. Some photos are three-hole punched, generally excellent. From the personal collection of longtime NASA photojournalist Andrew "Pat" Patnesky.
