DescriptionApollo 14 Flown Oregon State Flag Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell, with Signed LOA. This 5.75" x 4.25" Oregon flag flew to the moon aboard Apollo 14 with Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa, and Ed Mitchell. Its design bears the gold escutcheon from the state seal with "State of Oregon" above and "1859" below, all against a navy blue background. This is the first flown Oregon flag Heritage has offered. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead stating, in part: "This document certifies that the accompanying 4" x 6" flag of the State of Oregon was carried in my personal preference kit (PPK) aboard Kittyhawk from January 31, 1971 to February 9, 1971 during the Apollo 14 mission, and has been in my personal collection since then."
