DescriptionApollo 14 Flown Iowa State Flag Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell, with Signed LOA. This 6" x 4" cloth Iowa flag was carried aboard Apollo 14 on its mission to the moon in 1971. The Command Module Kitty Hawk, on board which this flag was carried, is now on exhibit at the Astronaut Hall of Fame in Titusville, Florida. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a signed letter of authenticity on his personal letterhead stating: "This letter is to certify that the accompanying 'State of Iowa' Flag (4" x 6"), was carried into lunar orbit aboard the Command Module Kittyhawk on the Apollo 14 mission to the Fra Mauro Highlands January 31 to February 9, 1971. It was in lunar orbit for 67 hours. This flag has been in my personal collection of Apollo memorabilia since that time. Enjoy it in remembrance of that historic period."
