DescriptionApollo 14 Command Module Flown National Flag of Brazil from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell. Offered here is a 6" x 4" cloth Brazilian flag that was carried aboard Apollo 14 on its mission to the moon. Apollo 14 was the eighth manned Apollo mission and the third to land on the moon, touching down on February 5, 1971. This flag has a striking bold design with the center blue disc signifying a starry sky. Excellent condition.
Included in this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Dr. Mitchell on his personal letterhead stating that, "...[this] 'Country of Brazil' Flag (4" x 6"), was carried into lunar orbit aboard the Command Module Kittyhawk on the Apollo 14 mission to the Fra Mauro Highlands January 31 to February 9, 1971. It was in lunar orbit for 67 hours. This flag has been in my personal collection of Apollo memorabilia since that time. Enjoy it in remembrance of that historic period."
