DescriptionApollo 14 Command Module Flown Embroidered Crew Patch from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell. This 4.5" x 4" oval mission insignia patch was designed by Jean Beaulieu of the Kennedy Space Center graphics art department. It depicts a NASA Astronaut Pin flying to the moon and was carried aboard the command module during the nine-day flight. The surnames of the crewmembers, "Shepard Roosa Mitchell" are listed beneath the graphic, with "APOLLO 14" above, all on a gold thread background. Excellent condition.
Included in this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Dr. Mitchell on his personal letterhead stating that, "...[this] Apollo 14 Embroidered Crew Patch (4"), was carried into lunar orbit aboard the Command Module Kittyhawk on the Apollo 14 mission to the Fra Mauro Highlands January 31 to February 9, 1971. It was in lunar orbit for 67 hours. This crew patch has been in my personal collection of Apollo memorabilia since that time. Enjoy it in remembrance of that historic period."
