Apollo 13 NASA Mustard Yellow Flight Jacket Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Jack Swigert, with LOA. An iconic jacket as worn by Apollo-era astronauts with a 3" diameter NASA "meatball" patch sewn on the right breast and an empty 4" x 2" Velcro patch on the left. A zippered short jacket, mustard yellow (gold) in color, with white lining and black stretch trim at the neck, cuffs, and waistband. There are angled pockets with snap closures on each side and a zipper pocket with four pen-type slots on the upper left sleeve. The "Flite Gear by Port Echo" tag is sewn inside the left pocket. No size given, approximately 18.5" (across the shoulders) x 25". This was likely issued to Swigert upon his acceptance as an astronaut in 1966 and worn as he trained for his flight as an Apollo command module pilot which came suddenly three days before the launch of Apollo 13 (due to Ken Mattingly's exposure to German Measles). Rarely offered; perfect for display. Minor wear, great appearance.

Included with this lot is a Letter of Authenticity signed by Jack Swigert's sister, Virginia Swigert, certifying "that this NASA pilot's mustard-colored flight jacket was personally owned by Jack Swigert" and that it comes directly from his estate.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
