Apollo 13 Crew-Signed "Type Two" Insurance Cover with Incomplete 1970 Cancellation and Added Tenth Anniversary Cancellation. The color cachet features the mission insignia with the crew surnames below along with an astronaut pin. To the right are the bold signatures of the original crew in black felt tip: "James Lovell", "Ken Mattingly", and "Fred Haise". It is obviously one of the group of insurance covers prepared and signed before the flight based on the positioning of the signatures and the 6¢ Flag stamp. The cover was run through the cancellation machine but the date stamp did not "take." A previous owner neatly applied a 15¢ Flag stamp and had it cancelled on April 11, 1980, at Kennedy Space Center, the tenth anniversary of the launch. Included are COAs from RR Auctions and Scott Cornish. Excellent.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
