Apollo 12: Telegram Sent to Crew during Flight, Signed by Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean and Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Charles Conrad. A Western Union telegram, 8.25" x 10", dated November 18, 1969, from U.S. Congressman James Fulton of Pennsylvania. He wires to the crew in care of Robert Gilruth at Mission Control, in part: "We are certainly proud of your fine success to date on Apollo Twelve flight. Your comments and observations are most interesting and the color TV pictures are fine quality... As ranking minority member of the House Science and Astronautics Committee, count on my continued full support for Apollo moon landing programs..." At a recent date, Alan Bean has written and signed a long comment at the bottom: "So nice to have someone/ appreciate my camera work/ on Apollo 12. Time gives humans/ a more accurate understand of/ the events of 1969. Alan Bean/ Apollo 12". Very fine condition with the lower right corner clipped, original folds, and staple holes at upper left.

James G. Fulton (1903-1971) served fourteen consecutive terms in congress from 1945 to 1971. He was a major proponent of the American space program and is given credit for saving the Space Shuttle program when, in 1970, he emerged from an ambulance after a heart attack to propose a funding compromise that eventually saved the program. He served as adviser on space to United States Mission at United Nations from 1960 until 1969.
