Apollo 12 Flown Large-Size Texas Flag on Crew-Signed Mat, Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA on Photo. A 11.25" x 7.75" Texas "Lone Star" state flag mounted to a matboard along with an unflown Apollo 12 embroidered mission insignia patch. Attractively matted and framed to an overall 25" x 21". Bean has signed the flag on the lower right corner: "Flown to the moon/ Aboard Apollo 12 Nov 69/ Alan L Bean". The entire crew has signed on the mat beneath: "Charles Conrad Jr", "Dick Gordon", and "Alan L Bean". Dramatically more displayable than the 6" x 4" flags normally seen. A tiny bit of adhesive bleedthrough on the flag, otherwise excellent.

Included with this lot is a unique handwritten and signed "letter of authenticity" from Bean on an 8.5" x 11" color photo of the earth as seen from the moon. It reads, in full: "On November 19, 1969 Pete Conrad and I landed on the moon, in the Ocean of Storms, near a group of craters we called Snowman. This Flag was flown to the moon in Yankee Clipper by our Apollo 12 crew and returned to earth November 24, 1969. Alan Bean/ Lunar Module Pilot/ Apollo 12/ November 19, 1999". Note that the date is the thirtieth anniversary of his lunar landing.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
