Apollo 12 Flown Command Module Rotational Controller Handle Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, with Handwritten LOA. A milled aluminum handle, approximately 4.5" tall with a black "trigger" and indented finger grips. It is custom mounted to a 4.75" x 7.75" x 1" walnut base with an engraved plate above reading: "Apollo 12/ Nov. 12-24, 1969" and one below reading: "Rotational Hand Controller". This was mounted in the Apollo 12's Command Module Yankee Clipper and used for manual control of the spacecraft across any of the three axes- pitch, roll, and yaw. It was removed after the successful mission and presented to Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean. An extremely rare, important, and desirable piece of flown Apollo hardware, seldom offered. Excellent.

Included in this lot is a handwritten and signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead. It reads, in full:
"I hereby certify that the accompanying Command Module Rotational Hand Controller flew to the moon with me aboard, 'Yankee Clipper' in November 1969.

"It was used primarily by the Command Module Pilot, Dick Gordon. It also served as the backup hand controller in the event the primary hand controller used by our Commander, Pete Conrad, failed.

"The Rotational Hand Controller has been in my personal collection since that time.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
