Description

Apollo 12 Flown CM to LM Electrical Power "Umbilical" Cable Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, with Handwritten LOA. A 37" long heavy cable with complex connectors at both ends, and with five attached tabs covered in Velcro. There are several part numbers printed on various areas, as follows: on one of the Velcro-covered tabs, "LDW280-12107-1"; on the smaller connector, "6820A, PAT 32025T7-I5S, 03221XX6820A, ME414-0465-0012"; near the larger connector,"P23 (C04W7 J231)"; near the smaller connector, "P10 (LEMJ10)"; and wrapped around the cable near the middle, "L01 W11, V28-420111, and S/N/ 06361 B009786". This cable was connected while on the way to the moon to supply power to the Lunar Module Intrepid from the CM and was disconnected from and stowed aboard the Command Module Yankee Clipper when it was time to undock the LM and begin descent toward the Ocean of Storms. An important piece of hardware, perfect for display. Excellent.

Included in this lot is a handwritten and signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead. It reads, in full:
"I hereby certify that the accompanying Electrical Cable, serial number 06361-B009786, flew with me aboard the Apollo 12 mission in November 1969. This cable was used to provide power to our Lunar Module 'Intrepid' from our Command Module, 'Yankee Clipper' during trans lunar flight.
