Description

Apollo 12 Crew-Signed U.S.S. Hornet Recovery Cover. A philatelic cover with a single 10ยข "First Man on the Moon" stamp cancelled on November 24, 1969, aboard the U.S.S. Hornet recovery ship and with a stamped U.S. Navy Recovery Force cachet. It is signed at upper left: "Charles Conrad Jr", "Dick Gordon", and "Alan L Bean". These autographs were obtained in person by a White House Police Officer the day after the three astronauts and their wives spent the night in the White House at the invitation of President Richard Nixon. That information has been handwritten on the verso of the 10.5" x 8" frame in which this cover is handsomely presented: "Envelope autographed by astronauts Conrad, Gordon, and Bean for Officer [deleted], White House Police, after they spent the night at the White House. December 21, 1969". Great provenance. Both the signatures and stamped cachet are faded, overall very fine.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
