    Description

Apollo 11 Landing Site: August 1969-Dated Preliminary Maps (Three) on One Large Document Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. An amazing find, three extremely early maps, as follows.
Preliminary Traverse Map: Compiled by G. G. Schaber, M. H. Hait, and R. M. Batson, August 11, 1969. A quite detailed map depicting the topography, key sites, and the paths taken by Armstrong and Aldrin during their EVA. Legend included.
Preliminary Map of EVA Photographs and Television Pictures: Compiled by R. M. Batson and K. B. Larson, August 11, 1969. Shows photos by number and the location/direction they were taken, with detailed maps of the pans. Legend included.
Preliminary Topographic Map of Area Visible from LM Windows at Apollo XI Landing Site: Compiled by G. Nakata, R. Jordan, and S.S.C. Wu, August 8, 1969. Legend included.

All three of these rare and early maps are printed side-by-side on a sheet 54" x 25", as compiled for the U.S. Geological Survey. Research shows that another copy of the Traverse Map was presented to President Nixon. Unevenly toned, some creasing and edge roughness, overall very good. Stored rolled. A great display piece. CAG 1002109-017. This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
