    Ex. Buzz Aldrin

Apollo 11 Crew: Training-Used Launch Operations Checklist Page Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin, Certified and Signed, with Signed LOA, also Signed by Michael Collins with Astronaut Central COA. A 5.5" x 8" page numbered 1--11/1-12, printed on cardstock and three-hole punched, from the "Launch Operations Checklist Simulator Copy," P/N "SKB32100080-306". Signed in blue ink on 1-11: "Used in Training for/ Apollo XI/ Buzz Aldrin". Also signed in black ink: "Michael Collins/ Apollo XI/ CMP" with illustrated Certificate of Authenticity. Very fine.

Included with this lot is a signed typed Letter of Certification in which Aldrin describes this item, in part: "Accompanying this letter is a sheet numbered 1-11 and 1-12 from the CSM 107 (Apollo 11) Launch Operations Checklist, SKB32100080-306. It was part of the complete manual that was used in the Command Module Apollo Mission Simulator at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas. The sheet is from Section 1 titled: Liftoff Configuration. The entire checklist, including this actual sheet, was used by all three Apollo 11 crew members: Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and myself We referred to this section every time we performed a launch simulation All of the control panel switches, dials, and knobs had to be set to the liftoff settings defined in this section. Side 1-11 has all the settings required for Panels 251, 252, 275, 276, and 278 which were located in the Right-Hand Equipment Bay. Panels 300 through 303 were our space suit oxygen hose connection ports, located in the Left-Hand Forward Equipment Bay. All of these panels were usually pre-set. Side 1-12 has panel 304 and 305 settings which were our 'kitchen sink' and Panel 306, one of our event timers. All of these panels were located in the Left-Hand Forward Equipment Bay, and again were usually pre-set. Panels 325 and 326 were just to the left of Neil. They were our Cabin Pressure Relief and Primary Glycol Systems. Neil would take this sheet and verify those settings. The last two panels, 350 and 351, were located in the Left-Hand Equipment Bay. They were part of the Environmental Control System, and usually pre-set.
It was important to rehearse the flow of this activity in the simulator. It was an excellent learning device and the checklist was an important tool to insure our correct performance. This training was a key step which enabled our flight to make the first manned lunar landing on July 20, 1969..." From the collection of Lee Nunn.
