Description

    APOLLO 10

Apollo 10 Flown Silver Robbins Medallion, Serial Number 190, Originally from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Dave Scott, with Notarized Copy of Signed LOA. This 29mm x 31mm sterling silver shield-shaped medal was one of 300 flown to the moon on Apollo 10, May 18-26, 1969, with crewmembers Tom Stafford, Gene Cernan, and John Young. The medallions stayed with Young aboard the Command Module Charlie Brown while Stafford and Cernan flew the Lunar Module Snoopy to within 50,000 feet of the lunar surface on the last, full-scale dress rehearsal for the Apollo 11 landing. The obverse of the medal features a large 3-D Roman numeral "X" on the moon's surface as the CSM orbits the moon while the LM flies up from its low pass; the reverse has the engraved mission dates along with the serial number and the sterling and Robbins hallmarks. Included is the original plastic case with the numbered sticker on the bottom. Gorgeous.

Included with this lot is a copy of a 1994-dated signed Letter of Authenticity from Scott on his business letterhead stating, in full: "To Whom it May Concern. This is to certify that the silver medallions enumerated below were flown aboard their respective U.S. missions in space, and that they are from my personal collection. ...Apollo 10, Serial # 190...".
