    Description

Alexei Leonov and Valentina Tereshkova Signed Limited Edition Leonov "Seagull" Print, #AP 33/95. A 32" x 18" color lithograph print by cosmonaut Leonov depicting a helmeted Tereshkova against the blue horizon with a floating cosmonaut and a group of seagulls around. When she became the first woman in space in 1963 aboard Vostok 6 her call sign was chaika which translates to seagull. In regards to his 1965 Voskhod 2 spacewalk, Leonov was quoted as saying that he felt "like a seagull with its wings outstretched, soaring high above the Earth". Thus the title of this artwork. Signed in pencil by both at the bottom margin. A great combination of the first woman in space and the first man to do an EVA. Stored rolled. Very fine.
