    Description

A six iron shot on the moon

Alan Bean Signed Limited Edition "In Flight" Color Print, #435/850, also Signed by the Apollo 14 Crew, in Framed Display. A 22" x 21" (sight size) lithograph issued in 1992 from an original 1990 acrylic painting by Bean; it shows Alan Shepard as he hits the famous golf shot on the lunar surface during an Apollo 14 EVA. The caption reads: "With millions watching on television, Apollo XIV commander Alan Shepard fulfills the dreams of every Earthbound golfer: a six-iron shot on the moon." There are two printed quotes from Shepard below, one from the time of the 1971 shot and another from twenty years later. Four astronauts have signed in the lower area: Apollo 14 crewmembers "Alan Shepard", "Edgar Mitchell", and "Stuart A Roosa", as well as artist and astronaut "Alan Bean". Three of these four actually walked on the lunar surface. This is a must-have for a golf enthusiast to hang on their den or office wall. Matted and framed to an overall 28" x 29". Scratches on frame, very fine.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
