Depicts Neil Armstrong's first step on the moonAlan Bean's "A Giant Leap" Signed Limited Edition Giclée Canvas, Artist Proof #31/35. A 12" x 15" color canvas print on a wooden stretcher, from an original acrylic painting by Bean, signed lower right in gold: "Alan Bean AP31/35". The original was painted to honor the twenty-fifth anniversary and this print was released to honor the fortieth anniversary of Armstrong's first step on the moon. Bean describes his work: " In this painting, I show Neil shifting his weight from his right foot, which is resting on the lunar module landing pad, to his left on the Moon. This would be considered the first human footprint on the Moon. '...one small step for man...' He would then shift his weight back to his right foot, still on the landing pad, lift his left foot and make some technical observations about the historic footprint. As the centuries unfold, there will be first steps on Mars and other celestial bodies. They will be much farther away than our Moon, but none will ever be a more giant leap for humankind than the one made by Neil Armstrong and all the people who helped him make that leap on July 20, 1969." Just a few months after Armstrong's historic footprint, Bean himself climbed down the ladder of his lunar lander to become the fourth moonwalker. This print sold out within hours when issued by Greenwich Workshops in 2009. The limited edition was of 175 signed and numbered and an additional thirty-five artist's proofs of which this is one. Not easily found on the aftermarket. Pristine.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
