Official world record claims for Zond 5, the first spacecraft to orbit the moon and return to Earth

Soviet Original Bound Book: "File on Scientific and Technological Achievements and Records Set Up by the 'Zond-5' Automatic Interplanetary Station" from the Library of Soviet Engineer Oleg Ivanovsky. "September 14-21, 1968". Published at Moscow in 1973. This 9" x 12" book is luxuriously bound in maroon with gilt titles and is printed in English. Inside are nine separate signed statements and reports backing up the two world record claims to the International Aero Federation (FAI): (1) Maximum mass (weight) at the beginning of the translunar insertion (class of "C") and (2) Maximum mass (weight) returned to the Earth surface after the circumlunar flight (class of "C"). These claims are backed up across nine detailed statements and technical reports, each signed by one or more individuals intimately involved in the Zond 5 design and launch: Ivan G. Borisenko, Sports Commissar of USSR Aero Sports Foundation; M. S. Floriansky, Ballistic Laboratory Chief; B. M. Musichuk, Chief of Telemetering Measurement Laboratory; V. V. Balakleytsev, Chief of Radion Engineering Laboratory; and Engineers D. P. Saveliev, E. M. Skovoroda-Lusina, O. A. Bolotova, and A. P. Novozhilov. Following the signed statements are four original B&W glossy photos, each laid down to a separate page. A desirable official Soviet document regarding a flight to the moon and back carrying tortoises and insects. Excellent.
