Soviet Cosmonaut Selections: General Nikolai Kamanin's Own Initialed Copy of "Requirements For Candidates" Document and His Original Personnel Files for Valentina Tereshkova's Backups. An amazing find for students of Soviet space history. Several original documents from his own archives, as follows.

"Requirements For Candidates" (ТРЕБОВАНИЯ К КАНДИДАТАМ): A three page typescript document in Russian, 8" x 11.25", giving the requirements that cosmonaut candidates should meet for them to be considered. He has crossed out a word on page three and initialed it "N K". Rough translation included. Very interesting.
Irina Solovyova (ИРИНА БАЯНОВНА СОЛОВЬЕВА): Two page carbon typescript résumé in Russian, dated at close May 16, 1963. Solovyova was chosen as Tereshkova's backup and was also chosen to fly on Voskhod 5, in which she would have become the first woman to walk in space, but the Voskhod program was canceled after Voskhod 2 in favor of the Soyuz program.
Irina Solovyova (ИРИНА БАЯНОВНА СОЛОВЬЕВА): Two page typescript résumé in Russian with 3.5" x 5" B&W photo attached, dated at close January 23, 1964. Also, a later, updated version of the above document.
Zhanna Yorkina (ЖАННА ДМИТРИЕВНА ЁРКИНА): Two page carbon typescript résumé in Russian, dated at close May 16, 1963. Yorkina was considered the least capable of the five women chosen by Kamanin and was taken out of the running for the mission.
Tatyana Kuznetsova (ТАТЬЯНА ДМИТРИЕВНА КУЗНЕЦОВА): Two page carbon typescript résumé in Russian, dated at close March 20, 1964. Kuznetsova was a leading candidate at first to be the first woman in space but faltered by late summer 1962. She later prepared for the two-woman Voskhod 5 mission that was later cancelled.

In late December 1961, it was Kamanin's plan to select 60 new cosmonauts (including five women) expecting that a woman would be in orbit by late 1962. The female candidates were interviewed in January 1962; he wasn't impressed with the selection but is ordered to make the selection by March 1. He saw Solovyova, Tereshkova, and Kuznetsova as the leading candidates; they and two others were chosen. Tereshkova and Soloyvova were both closely considered for the first flight with the decision made just before the historic Vostok 6 mission on June 16, 1963. Included with this lot are current printed fact sheets (translated to English) on all three female cosmonauts listed above. A very historical group of documents. Very good.
