    Description

Skylab III (SL-4) Large Heat Shield Ablative Plug in Acrylic Display Directly from the Estate of NASA Legend Chris Kraft, with Certificate of Authenticity. An unusually large 3.625" diameter x 3.625" tall cylinder containing a 1.25" diameter x 2.25" long plug from the third, and final, manned Skylab mission. With three first time astronauts (Gerald Carr, Edward Gibson, and William Pogue) making up the crew this was the largest all-rookie crew launched by NASA. The 84 day long mission was a human spaceflight record at the time, and that record would stand for over two decades. There is a number 13 etched into the metal on the bottom of the plug. Lightly but generally scratched, fine.
