    Skylab I (SL-2) Large Heat Shield Ablative Plug in Acrylic Display Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Backup Pilot Bruce McCandless II. An unusually large 3.625" diameter x 3.625" tall cylinder containing a 1.25" diameter x 2.25" long plug removed from the Command Module after its return to earth. Engraved on the bottom is: "SKYLAB II/ May 25-June 22/ 1973". This was the first Skylab mission with Charles Conrad, Paul Weitz, and Joe Kerwin aboard. During the mission they performed a number of M-509 Manned Maneuvering experiments for McCandless. This the first Skylab piece of its type that we have offered. Rare. Lightly but generally scratched, fine.
