    Description

    Sikhote-Alin Meteorite "Shrapnel"
Iron, IIAB Maritime Territory, Siberia, Russia - (46°09'36"N, 134° 39'12"E)
Witnessed Fall: 12 February 1947 10:30 am local time

Examples of "shrapnel" from the famed Sikhote-Alin Meteorite fall of 1947 are often naturally artistic in shape and form. This incredible specimen exudes a flame-like appearance as the mass of torn metal has effectively curled back on itself presenting the sharp and rugged surface in good fashion. This result of a violent fragmentation associated with the bolide impact is aesthetically pleasing and weighs 780 grams. The natural metallic 'sculpture' from Space rests comfortably on a somewhat flattened bottom surface. Overall Measurements: 4.84 x 2.32 x 2.32 inches (12.29 x 5.90 x 5.90 cm), weighs 780 grams. [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
