    Description

Outer Space Treaty: A Pen Used by the United States as Signatory to This United Nations Treaty Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. A 7" long black ceremonial fountain pen with an Esterbrook nib. Originally titled "Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies," this treaty forms the basis for international space law. It was opened for signature in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union on January 27, 1967, and entered into force on October 10, 1967. Today, nearly 100 countries are party to this treaty. A rare opportunity to own such an important piece of Space history. For many years this was on loan from the Armstrong family to the Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio; their tiny inked catalog number is found on the barrel. Very fine. CAG 1002095-021. This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
