Original watercolor painting by legendary space artist Robert McCall

Original Watercolor Painting by Legendary Space Artist Robert McCall with Dedication to Dr. Christopher Kraft, Directly from the NASA Legend's Estate, with Certificate of Authenticity. A striking 14" x 20" (sight size) original painting of a lunar module lifting off during the ascent stage. McCall was one of the most prolific and admired artists in the Space genre. His work is featured throughout the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., as well as on many NASA-related postage stamps. This particular piece appears to have been painted specifically for Dr. Kraft. Written in the bottom right corner is the following: "FOR DR. CHRISTOPHER KRAFT/ FOR HELPING ME TO SEE THIS/ MORE CLEARLY". A unique opportunity to own a McCall original, as well as a part of the Kraft estate. Double matted and framed to an overall 23.5" x 29.5". This hung on the north wall of the upstairs hall in the Kraft home. Some light indentations to the painting, otherwise very fine.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
