Neil Armstrong's Robert H. Goddard's Memorial Trophy Plaque Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. A 9" x 12" wooden plaque with the National Space Club logo medal at top. Below is a 6" x 3.75" plaque, engraved as follows. "The Robert H. Goddard Memorial Trophy/ Neil A. Armstrong/ Col. Michael Collins/ Col. Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr."

The text continues: "Man's imagination has always soared beyond his achievements. But July 20, 1969, a momentary balance was reached. On that date man first stepped on the moon and, for a time, fantasy and reality mixed on the lurain. The landing climaxed a decade of dedication and technological advancement, and gave millions of Americans pride in their country and its achievements. Honored by us and the world at large. The crew of Apollo 11-Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, and Michael Collins. March 18, 1970".

Starting in 1958, this trophy is awarded annually to an individual or group determined by the National Space Club to have had the most impact on space activities for the year. Named after Dr. Robert Goddard, the father of modern rocketry, it is presented in a ceremony held in Washington, D.C. each year. An awesome display piece. For many years this was on loan from the Armstrong family to the Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio; their tiny inked catalog number is found on the reverse. Light scratching, very fine. CAG 1002095-006. This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
