    Description

Neil Armstrong's North American Aviation Test Pilot's Kneeboard, Circa Early 1960s, Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. A 5" x 10" gray molded plastic kneeboard, marked "North American Aviation, Inc/ Los Angeles, Calif. Columbus, Ohio" on the face of the lower retaining clip along with the vintage NAA Triangle logo. The kneepad features two spring-loaded catches at each end to secure note paper (not present), a plastic pencil sharpener is mounted on the upper right side, and molded-compartments to house pencils on each side (not present). The kneeboard has a 1.5" wide black cotton web strap with metal slider buckle for adjustment and a "Lift the Dot" snap for securing it to the pilot's upper thigh. Two thin black rubber pads are mounted in the concave lower side to provide some comfort. North American, of course, was responsible for a number of historic aircraft, including the P-51 Mustang Fighter, the B-25 Mitchell Bomber, the F-86 Sabre Jet Fighter, the X-15 Rocket Plane, and the XB-70. The kneeboard shows honest wear from use but remains excellent overall. CAG 1002098-016.This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
