    Description

Fourteen days in the life of a 13-year-old Armstrong

Neil Armstrong's 1944 Personal Diary Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. A 4" x 5.75" "Daily Reminder" book by Whitman Publishing. On the free front endpaper, he has written: "Neil Alden Armstrong/ 446 N. Sandusky Ave/ Upper Sandusky, Ohio/ Born Aug 5, 1930". This page has extraneous ink marks as do several of the other pages (could younger brother Dean possibly have done this?) He obviously got bored with keeping up his daily entries and they stop at January 14. Entries are typical for a 13-year old boy: "...Went to Sunday School & Church. Fooled around afternoon. Went to work. No School. Played with other boys. Went-up-town Bought some magazines. Put $15 in bank. Went Ice Skating. Worked on Scout newspaper..." This was before his parents moved back to Wapakoneta and Neil was working at Neumeister's Bakery where he stacked loaves of bread and helped make doughnuts. His parents let him keep his salary but expected him to put some away for college. A completely unique item. Ink marks are mostly on blank pages, very good. CAG 1001904-007. This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
