    Crawler pin

    NASA Apollo, Skylab, and ASTP Crawler-Transporter Pin Assembly on Presentation Plaque. A monstrous, heavy shaft, pin, and clip assembly mounted on a 10" x 14" x 0.75" wooden plaque featuring a 7" x 7.5" color photo of the Crawler in action and an engraved plate that reads: "Presented to E.F. Smith October 23, 1980/ Chief, Structural Systems Division. /This pin was removed from the Crawler-Transporter which/ was used to transport the Apollo, Skylab and Soyuz space/ vehicles from the VAB [Vehicle Assembly Building] to Launch Complex 39, Pads 'A' and/ 'B'. The Crawler became operational in 1965." A very cool item for display. Total weight nine pounds. The original photo on the plaque is of the Crawler with a Space Shuttle; also included is a photo of the Apollo 11/ Saturn V on the Crawler. Fine.
