    Description

NACA Test Pilot: Neil Armstrong's Handwritten Flight Checklist for the North American F-86-E Sabre, Circa mid-1950s, Directly from The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. Neil Armstrong flew over 200 aircraft in his career. The F-86 was a mainstay fighter during the 1950s and he would have encountered many of them at Edwards Air Force base while a test pilot with the NACA's High Speed Flight Station. The checklist is written completely in Armstrong's hand in blue ink on the recto side only of a 5" x 8" page. The list outlines ground checks, climb, take-off, air starts, landing, limits and shut down. Slight toning to paper, very good overall. CAG 1002103-012. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

Brief History of the North American F-86 Sabre: The Sabrejet was the first swept-wing jet aircraft in the U.S. arsenal. It proved a successful design and served with great success against its Russian MiG counterparts during the Korean War. The Sabre was produced in large quantities and served in several foreign air forces.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
