NACA Test Pilot: Bell X-1B Flight Check Off List, Dated November 14, 1956, Directly from The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. The Bell X-1B provided Neil Armstrong with his first rocket-powered flight. On August 15, 1957 he attained an altitude of 11.4 miles. On landing his nose gear collapsed, the only hitch in an otherwise uneventful flight. The checklist is printed on the recto and verso side of three 5" x 8" pages. The list details procedures for not only the pilot of the X-1 but for the key crew members aboard the B-29 launch aircraft. This check list bears a revision date of November 14, 1956. Light toning around the edges, paper clip rust remnant on the first and last page, small stain on the lower right corner of the first page, very good condition overall. Sealed in a numbered archival holder, CAG 1002105-001, 1002105-002, & 1002105-003. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
