    Description

Author's personal copies, all originally classified

NACA (National Advisory Committee For Aeronautics): Rare Collection of Seven Early NACA Research Memorandums Dated Between October 30, 1950, and February 8, 1957, in Binder. NACA was founded in 1915 to promote aeronautical research and was dissolved in 1958, its assets and employees transferred to the newly formed National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Offered here are seven original 7.75" x 10.75" books, all nicely kept in a binder labeled simply "NACA Papers", all originally from the collection of the author Charles T. D'Aiutolo of Langley Aeronautical Laboratory. All were originally marked Confidential but later unclassified. The subject matter generally relates to research and test results from models of supersonic aircraft. Also included is one 1960-dated NASA Technical Report on a similar subject by the same author. An absolutely fascinating collection of rare research documents worthy of further investigation. Very fine to excellent.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
