Michael Collins Original Watercolor of the Air Force's F-104A #748 Starfighter by Lockheed with Novaspace Certificate of Authenticity, in Framed Display. A 14" x 10" (sight size) painting of a plane with which he had much experience. In 1962-63, while he was waiting to re-apply to NASA for an astronaut position (he had not been chosen for Group Two), he took a spaceflight course at the USAF Aerospace Research Pilot School. Part of the "classwork" involved flying an F-104 in a high arc to simulate the weightlessness of space flight. He, of course, was then selected for the NASA Astronaut Group Three. The F-104 was a single-engine supersonic interceptor/ attack aircraft that set numerous records for both speed and altitude, first flown in 1958; this one has the tail number of 60748. Signed at lower right "M. Collins III '01". Double matted and framed to an overall 20" x 16". Excellent. Included with this lot is a full COA from Novaspace.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
