Rare pre-flight procedure book for Alan Shepard's historic launch

Mercury-Redstone 3 (Freedom 7) NASA/ McDonnell Internal "CCMTA Florida Test Procedure Pre-Countdown and Countdown Procedure" Book from the Collection of McDonnell's Robert McLean. A three-hole punched book, 8.5" x 11", of approximately 140 pages, printed one-side only. It was prepared by Robert K. Lindsay and the last revision date on the cover is April 12, 1960. Handwritten by McLean on the front is the date of flight, liftoff time, velocity at cut-off, and time of flight. The "Objectives" page begins with: "This document is to be used as a guide for operations during pre-launch and launch of Capsule 7 (MR-3). Pre-launch activities demonstrate preparedness of the Communications System, Automatic Stabilization System, Environmental System and Instrumentation System. Combined Capsule/ Booster abort tests followed by a power transfer complete this portion of Pre-Launch." Numerous of the pages have handwritten notations, data entries, and green underlining as it was used for its intended purpose by McLean. McLean would, soon after these tests, be in the launch blockhouse when Shepard put us on the path to landing on the moon. An amazing and important document from one of the key players in this first manned launch of the United States Space program. Signs of use and wear, very good.
