Mercury-Atlas 8 Sigma 7: NASA Complete "Spacecraft 16 Flight Operations Manual MA-8" in Original Binder, Heavily Annotated. An incredibly rare original McDonnell document filling a 2" three-ring binder. NASA SEDR 24-16, August 1, 1962, with various revisions included, Copy no. 20, issued to Frank S. Kawalkiewicz of Langley, roughly 180 pages of 8.5" x 11" (printed single side), with approximately 20 pull-out diagrams. Purpose stated in the Introduction: "It is the purpose of this document to supply reference information for the Astronaut and Ground Controllers. This information shall be from the operations standpoint and of sufficient depth to up-grade a basic knowledge of spacecraft systems. Procedures given for normal and emergency operating sequences are supplemental rather than replacing the Mission Flight Plan and Mission Rules." This was for Wally Schirra's flight in October 1962. General tabbed subjects include: General Information, Normal Procedures, Pre-Launch, Launch, Orbit, Retro, Descent, and Egress. All original Mercury documents are scarce; we have never handled one of these previously. Honest wear from use, many handwritten notations, fine.
