Mercury-Atlas 7 (Aurora 7): Scott Carpenter's Pair of Goodrich Spacesuit Test Gloves Worn in Training for the Second American Orbital Flight. A pair of spacesuit gloves, circa 1960, from the early days of the development of a suitable spacesuit for the Mercury astronauts, generally based on the Navy Mark IV pressure suit. Each of these gloves bears a red label inside that reads as follows:

"Full Pressure Suit - Project Mercury
    Unit: Glove
    Type: M-
Manufactured By The B. F. Goodrich Co.
    Contract No. NOas 60-8011C
    Bureau of Aeronautics
    U.S. Navy
For: National Aeronautics And Space Administration"

Also, inside each is written in large block letters around the cuff: "CARPENTER". These gloves have an aluminum cuff with a rubber seal gasket and a zipper for attachment to the suit. Later, a locking ring mechanism would be used. There are two adjustment straps on each, at palm and wrist; the palm straps each have "SC" written on them (Scott Carpenter). A rare piece of spacesuit history that has resided in a private collection for more than twenty years. Well-worn as would be expected but still a fabulous lot for display.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
