    Description

Konrad Dannenberg Signed Photo of the 1950 Bumper 8 Launch, the First Rocket Launched from Cape Canaveral. A 10" x 8" glossy B&W photo of this launch of an RTV-G-4 rocket, a cross between a German V-2 and the WAC Corporal sounding rocket. This was a low-angle atmospheric flight over a 200 mile range. Signed in black felt tip: "Bumper 8 launch/ Florida 7-24-1950/ Konrad Dannenberg". He was a German rocket pioneer at Peenemunde who was brought to the United States after World War II as part of Operation Paperclip. This is only the second Dannenberg-signed item Heritage has offered. Very fine.
