    Description

Gus Grissom Filled-out and Signed 1959-Dated Check with Color Photo. A Giant Food Inc blank check filled out by Grissom to be drawn on the National Bank of Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, dated November 21, 1959, made out completely in Grissom's handwriting to Giant Food Shopping Center #46 in Virginia for $100. It is signed: "Virgil I. Grissom" at the bottom above his personal address in Denbigh, Virginia. This date is just months after he was announced as one of NASA's first group of astronauts, the "Mercury Seven." Grissom was stationed in San Antonio after Army basic training and apparently kept his bank account there for many years. Included with the lot is a handsome glossy color photo perfect for matting or display. Very fine.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
